Dwarven King's Throne

I was hit with an inspiration for the creation of a somewhat ruined throne set, and I wanted to reteach myself how to effectively use Zbrush after using Fusion for a while. Since I had been playing a lot of Total War: Warhammer, I thought it would be interesting to make it a dwarven throne, using mostly stone. I found a concept I enjoyed and got working. I did all of the hi-poly in Zbrush, then moved to Maya and used Quad Draw for retopology. I then took the assets over to Substance Painter for texturing, and then placed, lit, and rendered them within Unreal. I go into a bit more detail within the actual post, but if you have any questions, please feel free to post them! Many thanks for giving my work a look!

Solo shot of the throne, about 3500 polys. It was a nice learning experience using Zbrush for stonecarving. I swapped pretty frequently between the Clay Tubes and Trim Smooth Borders brushes.

Brazier, around 1700 polygons. Working with the particle system in Unreal gave me a bit of trouble trying to scale the entire effect down. I'm really happy with how it ended up looking, though.

The various flavors of pillars. I made the large one first, then broke a chunk out of the middle and roughed up the broken bits, creating 2 smashed pillars at once. Full pillar is 2500 polys, medium is 1500, and small is 1000.

Stone steps that the throne is seated on, coming in at 360 polys. For the carpet, I used Zbrush 2021's new cloth dynamics system. Powerful stuff!

Shot of the low-poly geo in Maya. I used Quad Draw to retop all of the Zbrush hi-polys. Final polycount for the whole piece came up to around 11K combined.
